Checking Obama's progress?

Candidate Barack Obama made a lot of promises during his campaign. Over 500! The St. Petersburg Times, a well-known conservative newspaper in Florida, started a web site tracking Obama's progress on his promises once he became President.

Check it out at PolitiFact.com.

It tracks a number of categories: Promises Kept; Compromise; Promise Broken; Stalled; In the Works; and No Action.

He is our president. Whether you voted for him or not, this web site or something like it should become a regular part of your media consumption. Holding all of our public officials, especially our President, is a vital part of a successful democracy.

So, how do you think he's doing?

I agree he should be held accountable. He could probably use a different accounting department. Seems like tax receipts are falling off and rosie projections are falling short. I for one do not want to pay my families $24,000 bill for this years experiment in socialism. And next year should be worse with fewer jobs and less taxes being taken in. Obama will make Jimmy Carter move up a notch in presidential ranking.

He's been president just over 100 days. I think the only way to say he's failed at this point is to have decided he failed before he started. And, while I acknowledge some may feel that way, I'm holding my judgement until a later time.

It has been less than four months. I don't even know exactly what direction he is taking our country. I'm going to hold off passing judgement - just as I try to hold off passing judgement on others....

I like a few things he has done, I don't like a few things. But I still don't have final answers. I very much dislike the fact he did not follow through on his promise for more public scrutiny before a bill is passed. On the same note, I love the face he has opened more up to public scrutiny overall. I despite secrecy from our government.

Shhh its a secret said...

Thank you.

I am avoiding going back to politics over and over. This is not a political debate forum.
